WBS Gas Upgrade, University of Warwick

16th September 2025

Envirotech recently spearheaded a critical infrastructure upgrade, focusing on the replacement and enhancement of a gas main system. The project’s goal was to transition from a noncompliant external-internal gas main to a fully compliant counterpart, with new internal pipework energising existing backup boilers. A strategic relocation of the gas solenoid valve and gas meter was executed in line with the detailed contract provisions.

The specialised installation featured Geberit’s 316-grade stainless steel gas pipes paired with robust Mapress stainless steel gas fittings, setting a new standard in system integrity. For heightened safety, two emergency knock-off buttons were installed at key entry and exit points, ensuring swift plant shutdown if necessary.

The project also addressed regulatory compliance through the installation of an earth bond cable, directly tethering the new gas main to the existing earth bar in accordance with current gas legislation. Beyond the technical work, the team remediated a compromised tarmac path outside the plantroom, laying new tarmac and edgings to ensure a secure route to the facility. Finally, the surrounding external grass area was meticulously levelled and turfed to meet the university’s precise landscaping criteria.

This venture not only fortified the heating operations but also showcased Envirotech’s commitment to excellence in safety, compliance, and client-specific solutions.
